A part of the personal collection of Konstantinos Gioulekas has been exhibited in the War Museum Branch in Thessaloniki since 2005.
The collection is entitled “This is how we fought in 1940 – ’41” and includes newspapers, documents, photographs, letterheads, orders, maps and uniforms. An important exhibit is a printed order pierced by the bullet that killed Captain Georgios Michalakis, as well as the uniforms of senior officers, such as Alexandros Papagos, Vassos Vrachnos and Socrates Dimaratos.
The exhibition also presents the important role of women in the 1940 epic and in the National Resistance through the personal belongings of the singer of vistory Sofia Vembo and Lela Karagianni.
In addition, relics from the period of the Macedonian Struggle are exhibited in a special showcase, such as letters, uniforms and weapons of Macedonian warriors.
