Brigadier General (retired) Michael Chamaz

Mr. Michalis Tsamaz has been Chairman and CEO of OTE Group since November 2010. Putting customer experience as a top priority, he led the successful transformation of OTE Group into a modern technology company. This success in the midst of the economic crisis was made a case study by Harvard Business School, and is taught internationally at leading universities. Under his leadership, OTE Group consistently delivers 60% of the industry’s investments, making it the largest investor in Greece in next-generation networks and technology infrastructure. As a leading provider of digital services, it makes a decisive contribution to the digital development of the country, society and businesses. Michael Tsamaz has for years incorporated the principles of Sustainable Development into OTE Group’s business strategy and operations, setting as priorities the improvement of its environmental and social footprint, as well as the equal access of all citizens to the digital world.

Since 2001, Mr.Tsamaz has held a number of positions of responsibility at OTE, overseeing the development of the Group’s subsidiaries outside Greece and contributing to the consolidation of its international operations. He has served on the Boards of Directors of subsidiaries of OTE, COSMOTE and Deutsche Telekom. Prior to joining OTE, he held successive senior management positions in the areas of Marketing and Sales, as well as General Management, in multinational companies.

He has been a member of the Board of Directors of SEV (Association of Greek Industries) since July 2016, while since November 2016 he has been appointed head of the SEV Digital Economy Committee.

In 2023 he was awarded an Honorary Doctorate of the Department of Business Administration of the University of Piraeus.

Mr. Chamaz holds a degree in Business Administration from the University of New Brunswick, Canada.
