Library
The War Museum has a library which has been in continuous operation since 1976. Its book collection consists of approximately 25,000 Greek and foreign language titles and is constantly enriched both by new donations and by the purchase of modern publications.
He specializes mainly in military history, but also in humanities and social sciences, military publications (military regulations, military manuals, yearbooks of officers of all three branches of the Armed Forces, etc.). It also has a remarkable collection of F.E.K., encyclopaedias and one of the most complete and rare collections of titles relating to the Hellenistic period (Dr. P. Gregorakos Collection).
All the titles are registered in the electronic, online platform OpenABECT of the National Documentation Centre, where anyone can search online for the titles of interest(https://warmuseum.openabekt.gr/).
The library and the reading room are housed in the building of the War Museum, with opening hours for the public: Monday to Friday 09:00 – 13:30 (Saturday – Sunday: Closed).
Its entrance is independent of the museum and is located behind the main entrance of the War Museum (access from 24-26 Vassilissis Sofias Avenue), through the aircraft exhibition.
