
With great success the opening of the exhibition “Old Maps & Engravings (15th-19th century)” at the War Museum.
The event was addressed by the Deputy Minister of National Defence, Mr. Athanasios Davakis, who inaugurated the exhibition, and the Chairman of the Board of Directors of the War Museum, Vice Admiral (I) (retired) Konstantinos Karamesinis.
The event was accompanied by speeches by renowned scientists:
– Dr. Stella A. Chrysochou, Exhibition curator. “From Claudius Ptolemy (2nd century A.D.) to the surveyors and engineers of the 19th century”.
– Dr. Andriani Skopeliti, Assistant Professor at the National Technical University of Athens. “The form of contemporary cartography”.
– Panagiotis N. Sukakos, MD,FACS,(Hon) Professor of Orthopaedics, University of Athens Medical School. “Satirical and Historical Records of Europe. 19th-21st century”.
The event was moderated by Lieutenant (PZ) Chrysa Karavasili.
A special honour was the presence of representatives of the country’s Military and Political Leadership as well as representatives of the Academic and Diplomatic community.
The exhibition will remain in the Museum’s Foyer until 15 January 2026 and is free to the public.
