The War Museum commemorates the National Anniversary of October 28th, with free admission and special activities, as follows:- Screenings of anniversary audiovisual material, in parts of the exhibition areas.- Free delivery of collectible/numbered “Postcards of 1940” (postcards), to any destination outside Athens, through the Military Postal Service (Foyer of the “Ioannis Kapodistrias” Amphitheatre, 10:00-18:00). The presentation of the Greek War of Independence in Greece by Mr. Konstantinos Demisianos (Foyer of the “Ioannis Kapodistrias” Amphitheatre, 09:00-19:00).- Word deciphering game, using the 1940 communication code (Foyer of the “Ioannis Kapodistrias” Amphitheatre, 10:00-18:00).- Free thematic tours of the halls and the 1940 anniversary diorama (10:00-18:00); – Virtual freefall jump and flight in a fighter aircraft, using virtual reality devices (Ioannis Kapodistrias Amphitheatre Foyer, 10:00-18:00).In addition to the specially designed thematic activities, visitors will have the opportunity to watch and participate in the following activities:- Interactive presentation, using virtual reality devices and a high-definition screen, of the battle and equipment of the “RUPEL” forts (Battle of the Forts Hall, 1st floor, 09:00-18:00).- Free thematic tours of the exhibition of physical and digital 3D exhibits entitled “Journey to freedom, 1821” (10:00-18:00).- Interactive presentation on high-definition touch screens of the historical journey of Alexander the Great (personal life, battles, sieges, founding of cities, cultural imprint of campaigns) (1st floor “Alexandrian Times” room, 10:00-18:00).- Interactive presentation, through an interpretive exhibit (e-book), of key moments in the modern history of Greece (Hall “New Greek State, Macedonian Struggle”, 1st floor, 10:00-18:00).
