The new War Museum of Chalkida was inaugurated by Prime Minister Kyriakos Mitsotakis and the political and military leadership of the Armed Forces, with great success and a large number of people – beyond all expectations.

“Leap”…into history, national memory and national self-awareness.

-A new important “Capital” for the Euboean capital and Evia in general, but also for Central Greece and the whole country,

***with Prime Minister Kyriakos Mitsotakis expressing his unlimited satisfaction and absolute satisfaction for the War Museum of Chalkida, while praising the contribution of Anastasios Liaskos, (Fr. Deputy Minister of Tourism Development and current Chairman of the Board of Directors of the Athens War Museum) to donate his personal collection, to be exhibited in this space, and even referring to the personality of Mr Liaskos and his work as Chairman of the Board of Directors of the War Museum, characterizing him as “the right man in the right place”,

*** with the Chief of the General Staff of the National Defence Staff General Konstantinos Floros referring to the importance of the new branch of the War Museum, stressing that it will be another safe haven of valuable historical memory and a real jewel for the wider region, but also congratulating Mr. Anastasios Liasko for the initiatives he undertook for the completion of the War Museum of Chalkida, as well as for the kind offer of all the exhibits and relics from his personal collection,

***with the President of the War Museum Anastasios Liasko, obviously moved, referring in detail to his enduring love for his homeland and the collection of rare historical relics, expressing at the same time his satisfaction for a vision that has now – after many years – become a reality.

***and with the hundreds of attendees commenting meaningfully that this initiative of the War Museum opens a new important “chapter” for Chalkida, defining a characteristic “reference point” and an important “pole of attraction” for young and old friends of the rich history of Greece, with the ultimate goal of stimulating national memory and strengthening national self-awareness.
